ESCAPE ROOMS: THE PERFECT POST-LOCKDOWN ADVENTURE
We think escape rooms are the perfect thing to do now lockdown is ending. But – we hear you ask - having just spent over a year essentially locked in a confined space with a small group of people, why exactly would you want to celebrate the lifting of restrictions by being locked in a confined space with a small group of people? We have the answers!
For a start; this is an entirely NEW confined space. You could jet off into outer space in Operation Odyssey or take a trip back into the past with the magical Operation Spellbound here at Can You Escape? Edinburgh or become a superhero for the day at Can You Escape? York.
Even better, you can play our games with a slightly different small group of people to the ones you’ve been locked-down with – if you want to! (Current rules allow teams of up to six players from up to three households here in Edinburgh. Please check the current local guidelines at your time of booking).
What other reasons are there for spending some of your new found freedom being locked up, we hear you ask? Here are just a handful of reasons why escape rooms are safe places to reconnect with friends and family.
Escape games are good, clean, wholesome fun. Even before the pandemic we already had a robust cleaning system in place. Now with the addition of masks, air purity monitors, dehumidifiers and air purifiers, along with PPE and a variety of sanitizers and anti-bacterial treatments for our rooms, they’re so clean you could eat off of them. (Disclaimer: please do not eat off our rooms. Food is not permitted during the game. Also we’re hungry. Did you bring enough for everyone?)
Escape games are well-suited for bubbled households, or small groups of family and friends. Since most regions in Scotland (sorry Glasgow!) can now take up to 6 people from 3 households, you can pick the people you most want to see and enjoy an adventure with them.
While some people are ready to fully explore the post-lockdown world, for others it can be a bit overwhelming to suddenly be out and about in a beer garden or public park with lots of other people. An escape room provides a more gentle re-introduction to socializing with just the people you choose to be around, and our staff who will monitor your game from afar.
In the world that was, we all enjoyed a little escapism from reality and while the world is opening back up now, we are still waiting for the all-clear for cinemas, theatres, aquariums and more. Until we can access these flights of fancy again, an escape room provides a little bit of an escape from reality that is simply not accessible via pub, cafe or Netflix.
Finally, we’ve all be a bit disappointed with the weather this May, so if you want to catch up with someone or get out for a change of scene, an escape room is weather-proof place to do so. And it does not preclude spending some time in a nearby pub or café or park before or after, if that’s what you want.
From everyone at Can You Escape? Edinburgh, we wish you a safe and happy return to normality. When you’re ready for some escapism, our award-winning escape rooms will be here for you.
PS: Already played all of our games? We recommend the games of Escape UK, our sister company. Find your nearest Escape venue here!
