Our Favourite Punbelievable Team Names
To celebrate UK Pun Day, we thought we’d share some classic punny escape room team names.
The common garden pun we hear a lot in team names here at Can You Escape? York is We’ve Got The Key in reference to the Urban Cookie Collecive’s 1993 pop banger. But next level up in the pun stakes are the amusing escape/key/lock style puns. Some of our favourites over the years have included:
The Escape Peas
The Escape-ades
The Keypers
Jeepers Keypers
Locked and Loaded
Escapodiums
Who-dinis
E-scapegoats
The upgrade from this are puns which are more specific to the theme of the room the team are playing. For Operation Hero, we get a lot of people naming themselves after a real-life superhero team (or as real-life as superheroes get). The Average-rs, is a fun - if somewhat self-deprecating - frequently heard team name. For our spy-themed room, Operation Lone Eagle, teams called Dr No Chance and The Team That Came In From The Cold make us wonder if John le Carre or Ian Fleming would be able to defeat our villain, Dr Mind.
But the top tier of Team Pun Names must be a unique name that solely belongs to the team: Escaped The Kids were a couple who got a precious hour away from their offspring, whilst Slurry, Not Slurry came in slurping ice slurry drinks. Nedder Getting Out featured a Ned and Teenwilf a Wilf. In It To Twin It, obviously, featured twins.
My favourite though is a team who played Operation Lone Eagle, who managed to combine all three. An escape reference, a spy-reference AND a reference to their workplace (the hospital). Friends, I am pleased to tell you The A(&E) Team escaped in 47:53.
